The September Issue is a fashion collection produced in the Adelaide Hills. The shoot was inspired from driving past Ve Vo Designs on Port Rd - I peered in the window and immediately fell in love with the clothes, so I called the owner and these are the results!
I wanted to produce a vintage inspired fashion shoot where the hair and makeup showcased vintage elements with a classic edge - the perfect combination for Yvonne's designs. I knew that the perfect setting for the photo shoot was a country garden, so I asked a friend's parents and they kindly let me use their exquisite home.
I met up with Adelaide photographer Nichol Brooklyn to discuss the concept. We decided that in keeping with the vintage theme, the pictures should appear slightly worn and faded as if to suggest that they were taken many years ago. Our goal was to transport the viewer back in time to relive an era that has inspired so much of the fashion that we see today.
Now I just needed models. In the hunt for the perfect models, I looked for timeless classic style. I first found Deanna, a fellow red head. I knew her pale skin and delicate features would suit the classic vintage style I wanted to create. I then found Vanessa who contrasted with Deanna perfectly as she has slightly stronger features and a hairstyle that let me create the perfect vintage fringe without using a clip in.
A big thank you goes out to Yvonne for the use of her beautiful designs, Nichole and her photography skill, Deanna and Vanessa for being such perfect models and Lesley for the use of her amazing home. Without you all The September Issue would not have been born.
